Abstract

CATIA Stimulus is an innovative solution developed by Dassault Systèmes to model, simulate and debug embedded system and software requirements as well as the associated test scenarios.

It provides a complete functional validation framework which can be used at different stages of the development cycle.

In the early specification stages, CATIA Stimulus allows system architects to detect incorrect, missing, or conflicting requirements before design begins.

By making requirements right the first time, projects can save the costly iterations needed to fix the many errors which are often detected much later. In terms of tools positioning, CATIA Stimulus bridges the gap between system specification models and design models, enabling the refinement of system requirements, typically captured in MBSE tools, into the highly accurate software requirements needed by the design engineering teams.

In the later validation stages, CATIA Stimulus allows test engineers to fully automate the validation process of the actual embedded code. Instead of building test environments from scratch, test engineers can reuse the requirements already validated in the early phase as test objectives (or observers).

They also reuse the many test scenarios developed in parallel with the requirements to generate test vectors automatically. In this use case, CATIA Stimulus co-simulation features ensure a smooth integration into existing model, software, or hardware test environments.
